BUILDING FUTURE BLACK BELTS
Hi, my name is Jackson Galka, and I am the head coach and owner of North Star Mixed Martial Arts. I want to thank you for your interest in our Youth Jiu-jitsu program–the Junior Samurais!
Martial arts has been an enormous part of my life since I was a child, and has provided me with the life skills to find success in my academic, personal, and professional pursuits. I am excited to be able to share my experience and passion for the arts with the next generation.
Our program teaches the brilliant art of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, which is an exceptionally powerful style focusing on takedowns, control, and submission attacks. As a self-defense style it is unrivaled as it allows a smaller, weaker person to topple and restrain larger foes without the necessity of even throwing a punch.
In addition, our Junior Samurais will be developing life-long healthy skills like Self-Confidence, Discipline, Leadership, Team Work, Conflict Resolution and Diffusion, and more!
I encourage you to sign up for additional info on any of the forms on this page! We will reach out to you immediately to schedule your child’s first class, and send along some additional info.
I look forward to hearing from you!
Professor Jackson Galka
JIU JITSU — MORE THAN JUST SELF DEFENSE
Our martial arts program teaches more than just punching and kicking! We take pride in providing the lessons that children won’t learn in school.
Jiu-jitsu, which translates to “The Gentle Way,” provides a platform upon which young men and women can be challenged in a safe, dynamic, and diverse environment. Students will work hard to achieve their goals, and learn to appreciate the value of committing themselves to a difficult task.
Students will learn to communicate effectively and directly with their peers and adults, in order to accomplish group tasks and provide feedback about how they are feeling and what they need.
Our Junior Samurais will develop unshakable confidence, which is forged in intense, but safe, training exercises and live drills. They will learn to stare adversity unflinchingly in the eye and make educated, calm, and rational decisions about how to overcome each challenge.
These young men and women will enjoy the benefits of an active lifestyle, and develop an appreciation for returns they’ll receive from investing in healthy habits and smart choices.
So, yes, martial arts is more than just punching and kicking. It’s all about cultivating the confidence, discipline, and positive attitude to have a healthy and happy life!
